What is a Colonial Festival?

patriot_flagHave you heard the news? St. Paul Lodge, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, is hosting a Colonial Festival two weeks from today, April 15th, at the Gardner Masonic Building, 42 Central Street, Gardner, MA.

So what exactly does that mean? Our lodge is the home of the Colonial Masons Guild, a group of Freemasons dedicated to the preservation of American Colonial culture and history. This event is an opportunity for us to put that on display.

Paul Revere, who served as Grandmaster of Masons in Massachusetts from 1794 to 1797, established Saint Paul Lodge in 1797. Our lodge is steeped in Masonic traditions and houses records and memorabilia that are well over 200 years old.

Joining us at our festival will be some friends from the Hubbardston Militia Group, who will be setting up an authentic colonial camp in our front yard. We’ll also be serving food prepared from old colonial recipes and you’ll have a chance to learn some colonial games and see authentic colonial artifacts.

If you’d like to learn more, show up at the Gardner Masonic Building, 42 Central Street, Gardner, on April 15th and check out our festival. We’ll also be hosting a blood drive that day and doing a Masonic Open House if you’d like to join the Freemasons.
